Jigar Raythatha, Principal
Mr. Raythatha joined Red Abbey Venture Partners in 2005
as a Kauffman Fellow (Class 10) and is currently a Principal. He led the
firm’s recent investment in Stromedix, a company that was formed
around a molecule acquired from Biogen Idec, Inc., and serves as a BOD
observer at the company.
Prior to joining Red Abbey, Mr. Raythatha spent four years at Biogen,
Inc. (now Biogen Idec, Inc.) in business development and new product commercialization.
There, he was responsible for leading cross-functional due diligence teams
and helped negotiate several strategic transactions. Most notably, Mr.
Raythatha helped complete a joint development collaboration with ICOS
Corporation for small molecule LFA-1 inhibitors and an oncology joint
development collaboration with IDEC Pharmaceuticals, Inc, which laid the
groundwork for the merger of the companies. Additionally, Mr. Raythatha
led the commercial strategy for six R&D programs in the areas of oncology,
autoimmune disease and fibrosis and was part of the team tasked with developing
Biogen’s oncology strategy. Mr. Raythatha also worked for A.T. Kearney
as a management consultant and completed internships with Pfizer, Inc.,
HSS Ventures, Columbia Science & Technology Ventures and Carrot Capital.
Mr. Raythatha holds a BA in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry and Economics
from Rutgers College and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He is currently
attending Johns Hopkins University where he is completing an MS in Biotechnology.
