Emeryville, USA. 1980-1985: Advisor to Karl Thomae/Boehringer Ingelheim, Germany. 1990-2001: Board Member of GlaxoWellcome High Rapid Throughput Screening of Natural Product Center. 1997-2000: Collaborated with Boehringer Mannheim, Germany and Pfizer USA. 2004-2005: Advisor to Tsunami On the Road Venture Fund. 2005-present: Advisor and CEO Partner of Red Abbey Venture Fund, Baltimore USA. 2007- Present: Co-Founder/Advisor to Calidris Therapeutics Inc, San Francisco, Vancouver and Tokyo.
Translation experience: From 2002 to 2008, I focused on translating discovery to product development, performing due diligence on > 900 technology/science projects and scientists/engineers for investment purposes as well as making recommendations to the private/public sector for policy and funding decisions. My areas of expertise are in drug discovery, delivery systems, biological, natural product, system biology, nanotechnology, recruitment & regulatory affairs.
Writing, communication and others: I write extensively. In 2008 and 2007, I conducted interviews on “The Impact of System Biology on Health Care Cost” and “Why there is no HIV/AIDS Vaccine”, and published them in a Nature (Elsevier Press) associated Journal. I am invited to international meetings to discuss the impact of S&T on society. I am on the Board of the Institute of Human Virology USA. I am translating discovery from the bench to the bedside with scientists of the National Cancer Institute at Frederick USA. I advise/collaborate with Xiamen University’s School of Life Sciences and Tsinghua University on the translation of basic research to product development. In my career I have brought one block buster drug from my lab to the bedside. I founded the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Singapore.
